The 1st January will see a lot of people in Lancashire bunkering down, but not Kate and Fiona Holroyd. They’re starting 2017 with the launch of their travel consultancy. Strawberry Holidays, a family-run, independent travel firm bursting with passion for travel.
The pair has known each other for over 8 years and their husbands are father and son. Both are successful in their careers but wanted to quit working for others. So they bolted their talents together into a business that is something they love with their heart and soul.
“We’ve had the idea of going into business together for well over a year. Everything finally fell into place back in September and we’ve been on a whirlwind journey ever since!” says Kate Holroyd, co-founder of Strawberry Holidays.
All at Strawberry Holidays are keen travellers and are excited to turn clients’ holidays into memories to treasure. They’ll use the web, email and social media and build a community of clients. Strawberry Holidays already has a waiting list of people keen to start the search for their next break in the New Year.
“We’ve clients waiting for our launch to book, honeymoons, cruises, a 60th anniversary family holiday, city breaks and more. With support from our friends and family our list of bookers is growing by the day, they can’t wait for the New Year!” laughs Fiona, co-founder Strawberry Holidays.
Making a change
The travel industry is new to Fiona, a registered nurse who has specialised in Health and Social Care for over 30 years. Her experience in health care has taken her to a variety of settings and gives her the empathy and confidence to help those with more specialised travel needs. Fiona is ready for a change of career and is 110% committed to applying her sales and relationship building skills to a role within travel.
Kate on the other hand is a senior marketer who has worked within travel for over 8 years. Most recently within Fairpoint Group Plc as Marketing Manager for HolidayTravelWatch.com. Before that she was Head of Marketing for Cruise118 based in Chorley. This combined with her recognition as one of TTG’s ‘Tomorrow’s Travel Leaders – 30 under 30’ scheme in 2015 makes an itinerary of success for the new travel consultancy. Read more and here (Page 31).
“We’ve been building up to this all our lives”
It is how Fiona and Kate spend their spare time that should be of greatest interest to prospective clients. The ladies have experienced travelling around the world solo, as couples and as a family. Between them they’ve taken great American road trips, cruises, city breaks, beach, and action and adventure holidays. They really know their product and can offer clients a fresh perspective when booking their holiday that those big high street agencies can’t.
“For as long as we’ve been working we understand how precious holidays are, to recuperate, to experience, to explore and we’ve been building up to this point all our lives without realising it. We want to draw on our personal experiences to help create our clients a holiday they want, at a price they want to pay and deliver on our promises” says Kate.
Strawberry Holidays is part of The Global Travel Group with ATOL protection. This also comes with a Government-backed scheme to protect client’s moneys in the event of supplier failing.
“We’ve got a highly experienced team at The Global Travel Group. We’re teaming that with our combined passion, the support from our friends and family” concluded Fiona.
